An industrial meets boho chic wedding styled shoot with Moroccan inspiratio

Incorporating warm earthy tones, beautifully rich blooms, an uber-cool real couple, and the most adorable dogs wearing floral collars.

The Setting

I knew the Custard Factory’s newly renovated warehouse space, Factory Works, was going to be the perfect setting for this shoot.

It’s raw exposed brick walls, and white paint peeling from the beams, beautiful skylights, and most amazingly, the detailed tile flooring, blended seamlessly with all the elements on the day. This amazing wedding venue is incredibly large, a completely blank canvas, with surprises around every corner, even the doors leading from each room are a picture.

The Shoot

I wanted to highlight as much of the areas at the venue as possible, and show off how each room could really create a different setting, but still provide cohesiveness throughout.

Emma at Emma Louise Photography, and Leanna from Wild Heart Wedding Films did the most amazing job at capturing this shoot, from the real love between the couple, to the very fine intricate details.

The first room showcased our boho look against the exposed brick wall. I built this incredible neon dark wood pyramid backdrop, incorporating two really popular current trends. I then scattered rugs on the floor, vases at the base with beautiful blooms and dried leaves. Amber wore a floaty, detailed beaded-top, gown by Maggie Sottero, provided by the wonderful team at Wedding Belles of Four Oaks. Grace from Amazing Grace Hair & Makeup went for a very soft look with braids, including a hair vine and loose petals in Amber’s hair. Ben wore a blue suit as well as braces and a mustard tie as a nod to the warm orange tones. As soon as Jacqui contacted me about having dogs on the shoot there was no question about it! Quintessential Wedding Day Dogs, owned by Jacqui, brought over Sky, a beautiful Husky, and Bosley, a fun and loving Bulldog, who worked brilliantly alongside our real couple. Edwina from Dusky Blooms made gorgeous flower collars for both of them, tying in perfectly with Amber’s bouquet.

Harriet from Iris and Fern Cake Design hand painted the most unbelievable cake with intricate flowers and foliage bursting out of it. Harriet also created a selection of hand painted cookies matching the cake, which would make for the most incredible wedding favours. Alongside the cake table, I designed a table plan that reflected the Moroccan inspiration. It featured white arabesque style place names with saffron coloured tassels attached, hung against a dark wooden board, as well as copper embossed boxes at the base that would be ideal for cards.

I then designed a tablescape encompassing those rich saffron colours that can be found in Morroco, balanced against the rustic wooden tabletop, and a dusky pink table runner and napkins. Edwina from Dusky Bloom created the most stunning little urns to go on the table with the perfect blend of colours and florals. Jenny from Rock Paper Nib provided white arabesque tile place names in gorgeous copper calligraphy which blended with the speckled plates and copper cutlery.

And finally, we created a very refined industrial ceremony setting, including a variety of lanterns lining either side of a wooden and copper piped hexagon backdrop. Grace from Amazing Grace Hair & Makeup added some coppery tones to Ambers' eyes and scraped her hair back into a low bun for a more elegant look with pearl hairpins. Wedding Belles of Four Oaks provided us with a sleek Paloma Blanca high neck gown which flowed all the way down featuring a lovely open back. Jenny from Rock Paper Nib created a gorgeous hand painted pink leather jacket for Amber, and a cream denim jacket with hand painted copper detailing for Ben. We then headed to the streets of Digbeth to make the most of the amazing art that surrounds the Custard Factory, where Emma and Leanne caught some incredible shots of the couple looking very elegant against the contrast of the graffiti walls.
